FAQs

  • • The tents have been built to be as comfortable as possible in all weather conditions. This is tented accommodation, so it is therefore “camping” and weather conditions will occasionally have an impact on your stay. This is out of our control!

    • Having said this - the Tents are very sturdy, have been reinforced to withstand strong winds and are water-tight. We encourage you to embrace the experience. Our tents have fully glazed sliding doors at the front, which allow you to stay snug inside whilst still having great views to the outside.

  • • Breakfast can be purchased in advance as an add-on (see website for options when booking). Basics such as tea and coffee are provided free of charge.

  • • There is no Wi-Fi offered at the tents. We encourage you to set your phones and laptops aside and enjoy being immersed in nature and soaking up the views. Network coverage (4G) is pretty good but depends on your provider.

  • • The Yellow Box Wood is located at 329, Costerfield-Redcastle Rd.

Coming from Heathcote on the Nagambie rd or Heathcote-North Costerfield Rd – drive past the Costerfield Community Hall and take the next left hand turn onto the Costerfield-Redcastle Rd.

    • This is a well-made gravel road – follow for 3.29km (yes – the distance is the street number in kilometres!). We are on the LHS – watch out for the sign.

    • All tracks on the property are gravel/dirt and we ask that you drive slowly (10km / hr) for your own safety as well as that of the wildlife, the chooks and your vehicle.

  • • Check-in is from 3pm (We advise arriving whilst still light if at all possible). Check-out is 11am.

  • If you cancel more than 7 days prior to your booking, we will only need take a 10% cancellation charge.

We do understand that plans change - However, if you only let us know of a cancellation within the 7 days before your stay we have little or no chance of re-booking. In this case, we will need to take a 90% cancellation fee.

If the cancellation is due to unforeseen circumstances, we are willing to consider using this charge as a credit towards a future stay.

  • • There is ample parking adjacent to the tents – partial cover is available for small-medium sized vehicles.

  • • Single night-bookings are only possible during the week (Mon-Thu) At other times, we have a minimum stay of 2 nights.

  • • The tents can accommodate up to 4 adults or 2 adults and 2/3 children. The Yellow Box Wood is designed as a place for relaxation and quiet enjoyment of nature. We do not encourage parties. Larger groups may be accommodated if both tents are booked together – please contact us to discuss.

  • • Yes to children but no to dogs. Children are welcome – tYBW is a great place for families to enjoy the bush in a comfortable and safe environment – plenty of nature to explore and of course – there is the added bonus of a swimming pool.

    • We are committed to protecting native wildlife, so we cannot accommodate guest’s dogs on the property.

  • • No - camping is not allowed.

  • • Each tent is equipped with an electric microwave / oven combo unit and toaster. In addition, there is a gas BBQ on the deck with an attached burner ring.

    • Each tent also has an outdoors fireplace situated 20m from the deck – this can only be used during the non fire-restriction period and even then, we will be guided by CFA requirements regarding fire danger ratings. We take our responsibilities regarding fire-safety very seriously and we request that our guests do likewise. Please comply with any directions that we give regarding fire usage.

  • • Each tent has full solar-powered 240v power with a back up generator provided in the event of a few days with cloud cover. The tents are therefore completely off-grid and sustainable in terms of power – something that we are very proud of.

    • Note – the tents are also off-grid for water supply and sanitation (septic tanks) – almost no carbon footprint left from your stay – something that you can be proud of!

  • • Around the tents all pathways are graded and landscaped with a gravel road base. The access roads on the property are dirt and gravel and passable by all types of vehicle with care.

  • • The Yellow Box Wood property is more than 100 acres and boasts both woodland and open grasslands. The Box Ironbark woodland is fairly open and easy to walk through. There are approximately 2-3km of cleared and marked walking tracks for your enjoyment.

    • Adjacent to our property is the Heathcote-Graytown National Park, which has a large network of tracks and graded roads for walking or cycling – it is possible to cycle for many kilometres without the need to use a main road.

  • The tents, swimming pool area and immediate areas around them are Smoke Free.

If you do need to smoke, we ask that you are extremely careful - there is a very high risk of bush fires, so we ask that you act responsibly in disposing of cigarette butts and the use of lighters.
